Newcastle vs Spurs betting preview and tips

As we take on the Magpies at St. James’ Park, we look at some Newcastle vs Spurs betting tips for our Premier League clash.

There couldn’t be a bigger contrast between the two camps prior to this one. Spurs are on a high with Mauricio Pochettino signing a new deal, going for second place and our best ever Premier League finish. At the other end of the scale, Newcastle are already down having suffered relegation. So, with that in mind, we take a look at some Newcastle vs Spurs betting tips for our last Premier League match of the season.

Match odds

Newcastle have been consistently average at home this season winning 6, drawing 7 and losing 5 of their Premier League matches. But that record gets worse against teams in the top half of the table, where they have won 4, drawn 5 and lost 11 times.

Spurs on the other hand are playing extremely well on the road this campaign. We’ve won 9, drawn 7 and lost just 2 of our Premier League matches away from home.

This record gets even better when you look at it against teams positioned in the bottom half at the time of playing. Against these foes, we’ve won 13, drawn 5 and lost just once.

The bookmakers have us as firm favourites and there is no reason to see it any other way. Bet365 and Betfair are best value for a Spurs win at 1.83 (5/6).

Recommendation: Back Spurs at 1.83 (5/6) with either Bet365 or Betfair.

Correct Score

In our last 20 Premier League away games we’ve scored an average of 1.7 and conceded 0.9 goals per game, highlighting our good road record. What’s more with Newcastle giving up at least two goals in 8 of their last 20 home games, we should be able to register at least a couple of strikes.

Newcastle look good for at least one goal, having scored in 16 of their last 20 home Premier League matches, so 2-1 looks a distinct possibility.

Recommendation: Back Newcastle 1-2 Spurs at 9.0 (8/1) with Bet365.

First Goalscorer

Harry Kane has been a monster on the road with 16 Premier League goals and 7 of these have been first match goals. It’s difficult to look past him to open the scoring and the bookmakers agree, installing him as favourite. Paddy Power stand above the rest with their 5.0 (4/1) for Kane to be first on the score sheet.

We looked at Newcastle’s recent vulnerability at set pieces in the Newcastle vs Spurs match preview. Eric Dier scored against the Magpies at the Lane and he is a massive 13.0 (12/1) to do so again at any time during the match with Betfair.

Recommendations: Back Harry Kane to score first at 5.0 (4.1) with Paddy Power.
Back Eric Dier Anytime Goal at 13.0 (12/1) with Betfair.

Over/Under

Our last 20 Premier League away days have averaged 2.6 goals per game. This rises to 2.7 against teams positioned in the bottom half of the table.

Newcastle’s last 20 Premier League matches at home have produced 2.7 goals per game and this increases to 2.9 against teams in the top half of the table.

Recommendation: Back over 2.5 goals at 1.65 (13/20) with BetVictor.

Other Newcastle vs Spurs betting tips

The match not only sees us going for second place, but also the race for the Golden Boot. Harry Kane leads Sergio Aguero and Jamie Vardy by a goal and he’ll be looking to extend that margin on Sunday.

Our striker is currently a best priced 8/13 to do so, but Betfair are offering new customers an enhanced 5/1 on Kane to win it (max stake £10).

Best of luck and may this be a profitable weekend for those of you that bet on Spurs. COYS!
